The EFCC has detained Hafsat Ganduje, the wife of Kano Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, in connection with a bribery and land fraud case brought by her son.
Her arrest comes weeks after she declined an invitation from the anti-corruption bureau.
Mrs Ganduje had been summoned to the EFCC’s Abuja headquarters on September 13, but she failed to show up, prompting the EFCC to threaten her detention. According to those close to her, she was in the UK at the time to attend her son’s graduation ceremony.
Mrs Ganduje is being questioned by investigators in connection with charges of land theft made in a lawsuit filed by her own son, Abdualzeez Ganduje.
A person, who has the knowledge of the arrest but asked not to be identified, said “she was arrested this (Monday) evening.”
Mrs Ganduje was still at EFCC headquarters as of 6a.m. on Monday, this newspaper learnt
