Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and his contender Kenneth Imansuangbon, will today be competing for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP ticket for September 19 Governorship election.
After an aspirant Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who had obtained a Federal High Court order to stop the Governor from the PDP Primary, withdrew his case and step down yesterday to have an out-of-court settlement.
Ogbeide-Ihama who is a House of Representative member representing Oredo constituency said that he opted out of the race as a result of consultations and honour to leaders of the party.
“it is expected that we learn lesson from the situation in the last elections with the opposite party in Zamfara and Rivers States”, he said.
He expressed his readiness to work for Whoever emerges as the candidates of the party in order to win the September 19 election.
The party will be holding an indirect election today among the two aspirants at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin.
