An autopsy report found that 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni, a student at Dowen College in Lekki, died as a result of ‘acute lung injury from chemical intoxication in a background of blunt force’.
According to InsightnaijaTV, the deceased’s cousin, Perry Oromoni, took to social media to claim that some older college students assaulted him in his hostel room for refusing to join a cult.
The school, on the other hand, refuted the claim, claiming that the youngster had complained of leg and hip pain as a result of a football injury.
The Lagos State Government has ordered the institution to be closed indefinitely in order to conduct a comprehensive investigation.
The late student had a scalded upper lip, bruised flanks/back, acute stomach erosion, acute lung injury, cerebral oedema with elevated intracranial pressure, and an enlarged liver, according to the postmortem report signed by one Dr Clement Vhriterhire.
