Following the third wave coronavirus variant announced by Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu last weekend, the Council Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu has applauded the Governor who is also the Incident Commander of the pandemic in Lagos State.
In his response to the statement released by Governor, the health conscious Council Chairman said the statement by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is a wake-up call to Lagosians who were thinking the Coronavirus reign is over and they are free. “The statement by Governor Sanwo-Olu is an indication that the pandemic is still much around, especially as we are still receiving people from other countries and that’s the more reason to be careful as some are not bothered with nose mask any longer’, Dullar said.
According to Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, residents of Somolu and Lagos State at large should ensure that they adhere to the safety precautions as the Delta variant comes with less or no symptoms. He said parents, guardians and teachers should keep a close watch on their children because they are more vulnerable to dangers related to health.
Recall that the first wave of the dreaded Coronavirus led to the first pandemic lockdown of Lagos State and most states in Nigerian in March 2020 and it lasted for over seven months. The lockdown, according to financial experts, has really dealt with economy of most cities and countries in world.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in yesterday’s statement, informed the State that the Third Wave of Coronavirus need the collective efforts of all Lagosians to be defeated completely. “This is the new disturbing reality that now confronts us. But we must not be demoralized by this. We must instead resolve that we will not leave any stone unturned in our bid to effectively mitigate the third wave of this pandemic in Lagos State”, Governor Sanwo-Olu explained.
