AFederal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, July 1st, 2020 denied the bail application by suspected kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala (aka Wadume), a welder Hafizu Bala and others tried for kidnapping and other related offences.
Wadume who is facing a 13-count criminal charge preferred against him and other members of his gang for alleged accomplices that include a police Inspector.
In a ruling, Justice Binta Nyako ordered that the defendants be moved from the Police custody, Special Anti-Robbery Squad where they where initially kept and be moved to Kuje prison in other to have access to their lawyer.
It will be recalled that Wadume was first arrested in 2019 over alleged involvement in several kidnap, and escaped on 6 August, 2019, when armed men attacked officers of the Nigeria Police Force that arrested him.
It was however alleged that a team of soldiers led by Captain Tijani Balarabe atacked police team that had earlier arrested Wadume in Ibi community in Taraba State.
