The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship’s primary elections, which produced Senator Emmanuel Bwacha as the party’s candidate for the 2023 general elections, have been declared invalid by the Federal High Court in Jalingo, and new primaries for the position must be held within a fourteen-day period.
Chief David Sabo Kente, one of the leading candidates at the primaries, had gone before the court to contest the way the primaries were conducted and asked the court, among other things, to order new primaries.
Justice Simeon Amobeda, the presiding judge, argues in his decision that the defendant was unable to persuade the court that there were primary elections in which he emerged as the party’s nominee, and he urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to revoke the certificate of return it had previously granted to Bwacha.
Senator Emmanuel Bwacha’s attorney, Barrister Ibrahim Iffiong, SAN, responded to the verdict by saying that he will examine it and talk with his client before deciding whether or not to file an appeal.

Similar to this, the APC’s attorney, Barrister Festus Idepefo, SAN, stated he will speak with his client after reviewing the verdict to determine the best course of action.
The court’s decision, according to Kente, is a turning point because it shows that the day of impunity is over.
He argued that the information presented to the court, which had an impact on the ruling, had supported his and the positions of the majority of party members in the state—that there had not been any primaries—and he urged them to maintain their composure.
