Bashir Sheriff Machina is the legitimate candidate for the Yobe North Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress, according to a Federal High Court in Damaturu (APC).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was instructed to receive Machina’s name from the APC, and the party’s primary election held on May 28th, 2022 was upheld.

In a decision issued on Wednesday, Justice Fadimatu Murtala also declared the parallel primary election held on June 9th, 2022, invalid.
Ahmed Lawan, the president of the Senate, won that concurrent election.
