Chief Ernest Shonekan, the former head of the Interim National Government that replaced General Ibrahim Babangida’s military regime, has died.
According to TVC, Shonekan, a boardroom guru before being appointed to lead the Interim National Government, died in Lagos at the age of 85.
Shonekan died in a hospital in the Lagos suburb of Lekki.
He was the Chairman of the Interim National Government from August 26 until November 17, 1993, when he was deposed in a palace coup headed by the late General Sani Abacha, the Secretary of Defense at the time.
