The voting phase for the All Progressives Congress’s ongoing presidential primary at Abuja’s Eagles Square has ended.
The presidential election, which began at 2 a.m. on Wednesday and ended at 7.45 a.m., was held under tight security and under the watchful eye of aspirants’ agents.
The presidential primary, scheduled to begin at 3.30 p.m. on Tuesday, began four hours later, at 7.30 p.m.
Over 2,000 delegates from all over the country cast ballots for their chosen presidential candidates.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Rotimi Amaechi, Ogbonnaya Onu, Rochas Okorocha, Dave Umahi, Yahaya Bello, Tein Jack-Rich, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Emeka Nwajiuba, Ahmed Sani Yarima, Prof Ben Ayade, and Ikeobasi Mokhelu are among the presidential hopefuls
Seven contestants who had acquired the ruling party’s N100 million nomination forms dropped down in favour of a former Lagos State governor.
Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti State, Ibikunle Amosun, the former minister of the Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio, the former speaker of the House of Representatives, Demiji Bankole, and others stepped down to make way for Tinubu.
Felix Nicholas, the youngest presidential candidate, stood aside to support Osinbajo’s presidential ambitions.
