Marshal Abubakar, a lawyer for Revolution Now Convener and presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police Force. Marshal is an Abuja-based lawyer at Femi Falana Chambers.
On Friday, the activist announced it on his Facebook page.
Abubakar was detained forcibly, according to the publisher of the Sahara Reporters.
“Marshal DF Abubakar was trailed to his home and forcefully arrested because he was accused of defending me.
“They claimed he embarrassed the police by suing them and Ned Nwoko on my behalf,” he said.
InsightnaijaTV previously reported Sowore’s arrest and incarceration on Thursday, February 24th, in Abuja, following a petition by former House of Representatives member and businessman, Prince Ned Nwoko. Later that night, on Thursday, he was released.
Nwoko had filed a complaint with the Nigeria Police Force accusing Sowore of criminal defamation and harmful untruth dissemination of news that was known to be false, in violation of sections 391, 392, 393, 394, 395, and 418 of the Northern Nigerian Penal Code.
