Commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as Okada, have again gone on rampage in Lagos State.
This, The Eagle Online was told, stemmed form the mayhem that resulted from the clash between the okada riders and operatives of the Lagos State Task Force on environmental Sanitation and other Offences in Mile 2 area of Lagos between Monday and Tuesday.
During the clash, which left some operatives of the Task force injured, over 200 motorcycles said to be operating illegally in the Second Rainbow area of Festac, were impounded.
The okada riders also set up fire with tyres at different points of the road, the video of which is attached to this story.
Owing to the development, okada riders operating on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, stretching from Oshodi to Ikeja Along and Iyana Ipaja, in the early hours of Wednesday went on rampage.
According to those who spoke with The Eagle Online, they were attacking the buses operated by the Lagos State Government-backed Bus Rapid Transport and policemen.
Some of the bus drivers had to discharge their passengers and look for a safe place to park.
The attack was still going on as at press time.
The Okada riders are also burning tyres inside the BRT lane in the Oshodi-Abule Egba corridor.
