Jimoh Abdulkadir Adamu, the Nigerian Immigration Service’s legal adviser, has finally complied with a court order to release former Rivers State Governor Peter Odili’s passport.
This comes after NIS was fined N2 million for refusing to give the former Governor’s passport.
Odili’s passport was returned to him in Abuja after it was allegedly confiscated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
On Monday, Adamu filed a request at the Federal High Court in Abuja, affirming the direct release of the passport to Odili.
Adamu, on the other hand, is scheduled to appear in court on allegations of “professional misconduct” leveled against him by the former governor.
According to Source, Odili’s counsel, Chief Ifedayo Adedipe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has been served with the motion and affidavit of compliance verifying the passport’s release.
Odili acknowledged receipt of the passport from the NIS legal adviser by signing a paper.
