Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa, the former National Republican Convention’s (NRC) Presidential Candidate, has died.
Tofa was MKO Abiola’s main opponent in the disputed presidential election on June 12, 1993, which was invalidated by General Ibrahim Babangida’s military dictatorship.
He died in the early hours of Monday, according to family sources, after an illness.
Alhaji Muhammad, a distant relative of the deceased, confirmed his death. “Alhaji Bashir tofa died after being admitted in hospital for sometime.”
