A former Military Governor of Rivers State and Information Minister, Brigadier- General Anthony Ukpo, is Dead.
The demise of the former minister was disclosed by Leonard Anyogu, a constitutional lawyer and the secretary of the Ogoja State Creation Committee which was chaired by Ukpo.
Anyogu disclosed that Ukpo died as a result of lingering sickness at his Asi Ukpo Calabar Hospital, today, September, 06, 2021 at the age of 74
saying, “I can confirm that the former Milad died this morning. He died in a hospital this morning.
“It is very sad. Cross River State has lost an asset,” he stated.
Born July 16, 1947, The late General was Minister of Information and Culture, and then Governor of Rivers State, from August 1986 until July 1988, during the Military Administration of General Ibrahim Babangida.
