The appeal filed by Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), against the Federal Government, will be heard by the Appeal Court on Tuesday of the following week.
The remaining seven counts of charges brought against Kanu by the Nigerian government are being contested.
On April 8, Justice Binta Nyako of an Abuja Federal High Court dismissed eight of the fifteen counts of treasonable felonies Kanu had been charged with.
Kanu went to the Appeal Court to contest the remaining charges after the decision.
The appeal hearing, however, was previously scheduled for October 11, 2022 by the court.
However, the court reversed its decision and set the appeal hearing for next Tuesday.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’s lawyer, revealed the new time.
The Federal Republic of Nigeria v. Nnamdi Kanu appeal, previously set for hearing on the 11th day of October 2022, has been moved up to the 13th day of September 2022, according to a statement from Ejiofor.
“Your persistent supplications and prayers are making a difference.
It follows that the hearing on Onyendu’s appeal against the final seven charges brought against him would now take place at the Court of Appeal Abuja on the following Tuesday, which is the 13th day of September 2022.
In order to prove his agitation for the actualization of Biafra, Kanu is being tried before Justice Nyako.
