According to reports, several beggars in Kaduna State have joined the protest against individuals who volunteered to help them by rejecting the old N1,000, N500, and N200 Naira notes.
Recall that the old naira notes in the three denominations, as announced by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, will cease to be usable for any type of financial transaction beginning on January 31, 2023.

The earlier deadline for all residents to return the old N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes was recently upheld by the central bank as being final.
When some beggars refused the old naira bills given to them by a kind stranger on Wednesday morning, there was a small drama, according to a journalist who witnessed the scene in Kaduna.
He claims that a young man was approached by three beggars in wheelchairs, and when he got off the bus and saw they were seeking for donations, he pulled a N1,000 bill out of his pocket and extended it to the beggar who was the oldest of the group.
He watched in delight as the beggars turned their wheelchairs around, smiled at themselves, and went away from the young man after refusing his offer.
