The Bariga Local Government Development Area has held its annual forum/service award for 2021
The Staff Union (NULGE) and the management team made the event a memorable event by rewarding outstanding staff at the event.
In a press release by the Council’s Public Affairs Unit, it was noted that the ALGON President, Conference ‘57 Chairman and the Executive Chairman Barr. Alabi Kolade David was represented by Hon. Bukola Adedeji expressed gladness towards such event, noting “He loves honesty with hard work” thereby appreciating the ever dependable management team for their unwavering continued support to the Executive Chairman.
Bukola also praised the staff members for their contributory daily efforts, towards every success story in Bariga.
The Council-Manager, Adenike Owolabi(Mrs.), lauded the Chairman for not relenting in providing working tools and conducive office which has geared efficiency and productivity of staff members. While praying that God’s blessings and peace will abide him always.
She informed the gathering of the meeting held at Alausa with the Local Government Civil Service Commissioners introducing a handbook of Civil Service Rule and frowning at some actions noticed by them.
1. PUNCTUALITY
The Council Manager expressed that punctuality is the sole of any business, therefore all staff must resume appropriate time.
Likewise, she accentuated the need for all officers to notify their head of Dept/Unit of any absence.
2. Dress code
She pointed out the importance of appropriate dressing at the office. Hence, the need for all staff to dress formally and appear near at times.
3. Diligence
The Head of Administration implores all staff to take their work seriously and be responsible in discharge of duties. She further admonish members of staff to get the new Public Service Rule handbook as it is the constitution and guide of our job.
Human Resource’s Address
Admin. & HR head, Mrs. Balogun Abiodun re-emphasized the use of Nose Mask and punctuality.
She announced the provision of signing book which all staff must sign-in and sign-out.
She addressed the issue of verification and instructed no one should sign for anyone. Henceforth, verification slips should be accompanied with payslips for verification exercise.
Mrs. Balogun pointed out the importance of training noting in and out trainings will begin soon for all cadres.
She did not end her address without noting the importance of updating staff record of service has many have changed mobile numbers and addresses which ought to be same in their record of service in their interest.
In her conclusion, she warned that staff should only visit the commission on approval of Council Manager and Human Resource officer as any officer caught against the instruction will receive appropriate sanctions.
The Council Treasurer, Mr. Apata Samuel applauded the Governor on prompt payment of salaries as at when due and noted that to whom much is given same is expected. Therefore, revenue officer should increase efforts towards generating revenue into the council’s purse which in turn comes back to staff members in welfare packages.
The event had it memorable touch when some of the staff members were rewarded for their outstanding service cutting across both pensionable and non-pensionable staff.
