The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Ms Hadiza Bala Usman has been re- elected as the Vice Chairman of the International Maritime Organization’s Facilitation Committee.
The latest election took place during the closing of the fourty- fourth session of the Committee which was held virtually.
The Committee which specialises in addressing shipping efficiency, relating to smooth international Maritime Shipping traffic, such as safe arrival, staying time, departure of ships, crews and cargo from ports.
The Committee also ensures that the right balance is often struck between Maritime security and the facilitation of international Maritime trade.
In her response, Ms Bala Usman has described her re- election as an honour for Nigeria and promised to continue to work with the Chairman of the Committee, Ms Marina Angsell and the International Maritime Organization’s Secretariat, in realising the lofty objectives of the Organization.
The Managing Director of the NPA commended the leadership of the Organization and the entire Committee members and thanked them for re- electing her for another term.
