New information has come to light regarding why the Federal Government hastily revoked its directive to the various university administrations to reopen public universities in the midst of the Academic Staff Union of Universities‘ (ASUU) ongoing strike.
It had urged university vice chancellors to see to it that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) members who were on strike returned to work and started teaching right away.
Recall that the Federal Government had earlier issued a circular ordering vice chancellors to reopen schools? However, it later released another circular retracting its prior circular.
The opinion leaders and other interested parties put pressure on the government to retract the circular that had previously been sent to order the reopening of the institutions in an effort to resolve the dispute between the ASUU and the government.
