Hundreds of Nigerian students marched through Kano on Monday to protest the current Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike.
The students, who marched from Kofar Nassarawa Kano to the Emir’s palace, criticized the strike as anti-education.
They resented the fact that so many of their coworkers had become drug addicts, some of them had even turned criminals.
The Emir of Kano, who welcomed the children, expressed regret that they had been kept idle.
He stated that he has communicated with both the Federal Government and the ASUU and recommended them to reach an amicable agreement.
“I will send an emissary right away to get first hand information on what is happening now and I will do whatever it’s takes to make them see sense in resolving the matter”, the Emir assured.
