The Nigerian Army has reacted to the court’s judgment that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, be compensated with N1 billion for flagrant violations of his fundamental human rights.
According to Vanguard, Army Counsel Amos Tory said the military would react after examining the ruling by the Abia State High Court in Umuahia, which was handed out on Wednesday.
The Nigerian Army has been ordered to pay Kanu N1 billion in compensation for invading his home in September 2017 during Operation Python Dance ii.
The court also ordered the Army and the federal government to apologize to Kanu in three national newspapers for infringing on his fundamental human rights after the military assault of his home on September 10, 2017.
The search was found unconstitutional by Justice Benson Anya, who gave the orders while delivering judgment on Kanu’s lawsuit against the federal government, the Army, and six others for allegedly violating his fundamental human rights.
Counsel to the Army, Amos Tory, responded by saying he was awaiting a copy of the judgment, which he will send to his clients to analyze and determine the next course of action.
