Following the acquisition, the All Progressives Congress, APC, identified persons who failed to submit presidential nomination and expression of interest paperwork.
The gathering also confirmed that approximately 25 forms had been filed.
On Wednesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, announced on Channels Television that 25 applications had been completed and filed.
The Ministers of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, and the Minister of Petroleum for State, Timipreye Sylva, did not submit their forms, according to him.
“For some of them, it’s a bit iffy. What I have this time, we’ve 28 who purchased form and at the last count, we have 25 who made submission.
“But three of them did not. They’re Senator Chris Ngige, Godwin Emefiele and then we have Timipre Sylva,” he said.
This could mean that the presidential forms for former President Goodluck Jonathan and African Development Bank CEO Akinwumi Adesina were actually filed.
President of the African Development Bank, Adesina, has ruled out running for president.
This came after a group of 28 groups bought and submitted Adesina’s nomination and expression of interest forms to the APC.
Though Adesina said on Tuesday that he is not running for president, it is unclear whether those who purchased the forms will be able to fill them out and submit them on their own.
There have been rumours that the APC has postponed its presidential candidate screening until May 23 to allow Jonathan and others to submit their nomination forms, but the party’s spokeswoman could affirm that all forms, including Jonathan’s, have been filed.
Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has stated that the APC presidential nomination form acquired for him by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association was not authorised by him.
In an Abuja statement, his spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze, said the former President had no ties to the northern alliance that bought the form.
He encouraged Nigerians to dismiss the sham and cautioned those behind it to stop defaming his name.
But, just 48 hours after distancing himself from efforts by some groups to draught him into the 2023 presidential campaign, Jonathan is said to have joined the APC in Bayelsa and decided to run for the presidency.
