David Umahi, the executive Governor of Ebonyi State, has stated that he supports former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi’s presidential ambitions.
On Friday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain stated that he is willing to host the Labour Party presidential flagbearer whenever he visits Ebonyi.
Umahi, who announced this live on Arise TV on Friday, September 02, 2022 rejected viral allegations that he said Obi will not receive a single vote from Ebonyi in the 2023 elections.
He stated that Obi is a friend of his and that he supports what the Anambra man is doing politically.
“I never mentioned Peter Obi in all my trips and statements,” Umahi stated.
“Peter Obi is a friend of mine, and I intend to host him publicly in Ebonyi State.” I like what he’s doing, and that gives me hope.”
Governor Umahi accused his state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of manipulating the narrative regarding his position on Obi.
During the interview, he also mentioned that the Igbos fared poorly in the presidential primaries of both the APC and the PDP.
