A poll that put Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) in the lead of next year presidential election has been disregarded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign committee.
The election is a three-horse race, according to the poll done by NOI Polls Limited under contract with the Anap Foundation. According to the report, Obi is in the lead with 21% of the vote. His votes give him an eight percent advantage over Tinubu of the APC and Abubakar of the PDP, who both received 13 percent of the vote to finish second in the poll.
However, the APC council claimed in a statement issued hours after the poll’s results were announced that it is “unperturbed” by the questionable and untrustworthy figures because its research has shown that NOI Polls have historically been inaccurate during crucial election periods.
“For instance, NOI published the findings of a “Viability Poll” in October 2014 in advance of the March 2015 presidential elections. This study incorporated the notions of familiarity and net favorability position.

According to the findings, President Goodluck Jonathan has the highest overall familiarity rating, at 99%, and the lowest Net Favourability Probability, at 25.
“By contrast, NOI dismissed the then All Progressives Congress candidate, Muhammadu Buhari as a “borderline candidate” who needed ” huge public relations” to shore up his performance. But when the Nigerian people went to the polls, who won? The APC candidate and now President, Muhammadu Buhari.”
In a statement, the council’s Director of Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, accused the NOI of using fabricated numbers to support its “political bias during an election period.”

In the statement, Onanuga claimed that “the NOI has chosen the favoured candidate and has decided to package him to the Nigerian voters using phoney, dubious figures.”
“We know, as a matter of fact, the owners of NOI and where their political interest lies and wish to advise NOI to stop polluting the political system with irresponsible, unscientific, and biased polling so that we don’t expose the puppeteers pulling its strings.
“Our party is putting every necessary machinery in motion to win the Federal elections with a margin that will be too wide to contest. Our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu recorded the highest votes of a senator across the country under the Social Democratic Party in July 1992. He will do it on a nationwide scale on February 25, 2023.”
