Prior to the scheduled All Progressives Congress’s (APC) National Convention, five candidates have obtained Expressions of Interest and Nomination forms for the leadership.
Prof. Al-Mustapha Ussiju, the party’s Director of Organization, the APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, announced the sale of forms in a statement on Tuesday.
Among the five candidates who have received chairmanship forms are Malam Saliu Mustapha and Abdullahi Adamu, a former Governor of Nasarawa.
Others include former Nasarawa Governor Tanko Al-Makura and Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs George Akume.
Despite the party’s leadership allocating the seat to the North-Central, Mr Abdulaziz Yari, a former Governor of Zamfara from the North-East, has also obtained the form.
Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, a former governor of Borno State, is rumoured to be considering obtaining chairmanship forms from the party’s national secretariat in order to run in the 26th March 2022 convention.
Around 4,000 delegates from throughout the country are scheduled to attend the convention, when new national leaders will be elected to run the party’s operations.
