The reported murder of Prince Yinusa Abdullahi in the village of Ofatedo in Osun State has caused misunderstanding in the local community of Egbedore.
A suspected local cultist shot and killed Yinusa, an Olofa of Ofatedo, at his home early on Saturday.
The Cultist was referred to as BJ.
It was discovered that local business owners were forced to close their doors and leave the area while young people organized protests.
There are reports that the offended adolescents lit bonfires throughout the neighborhood.
An anonymous local resident claimed that the alleged attacker and the victim got into a heated altercation on Friday night over an unpaid transportation fare.
He claimed that some passengers took a Korope (Minibus) and got off without giving the driver any money.
The driver wanted payment during the procedure, but they apparently thrashed him instead of paying him.
The dead (Yinusa), who was reportedly upset with how the driver had been attacked, was forced to go where the man went, which was allegedly an Indian hemp joint.
He said “On getting there, the driver pointed at the accused (BJ). This led to an hot argument between Yinusa and BJ . After the argument, the man came back around 12:30 am. He knocked the door and as Yinusa came out, he shot him.”
It was reported that hundreds of supporters entered Olofa’s palace, and some youngsters blocked the road, causing drivers heading to Ido-Osun to quickly perform a U-turn.
Police allegedly checked the killer’s home but did not stay, and it was afterward claimed that the killer’s father was taken into custody.
Yemisi Opalola, the police public relations officer, could not be reached right away for comment.
