Amotekun in Ogun state has detained at least six people in connection with home breaking, cult activity, and illegal firearm ownership.
David Akinremi, the state’s Commander of Amotekun, announced this on Wednesday in Abeokuta.
He claimed that the three suspects, Azeez Wasiu, Azeez Adeyemi, and Atunrase Tobi, were detained in Ijebu Igbo on suspicion of conspiring to break into homes, steal, and unlawfully possess guns.
According to him, Wasiu and Adeyemi were apprehended at the home of Alalukurani Amidu at No. 3 Ipase Street, Ojowo, Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, after breaking in through the visitors’ restroom and robbing the homeowner of household goods.
He said, “On interrogation, the two suspects confessed to their membership of the Eiye cult group, having been initiated at different times in 2020 and 2021. They also admitted being members of a robbery gang operating in some parts of Ijebu-Ode and gave the name of other members of the gang as Atunrase Tobi, Balogun Lanre and Adesanya Yussuf, while a locally made pistol was recovered from them.’’
