Ijaw leader Chief Edwin Clark has criticised Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, claiming Okowa abandoned the people of the South by accepting the position of the Peoples Democratic Party’s vice presidential candidate (PDP).
In addition, Clark requested that Okowa apologise to Southern Nigeria and his colleagues before resigning as Abubakar Atiku’s running mate for the PDP presidential nomination.

The Ijaw leader who demanded that the Delta Governor account for the use of the N250 billion 13% derivation fund that the State got also charged the Governor with utilising the funds to improve his village at the cost of the oil villages.
He stated: “I can therefore understand why you have deliberately and immorally betrayed your colleagues of Southern Nigeria and the people for your own selfish ambition by wanting to land on a safer ground by accepting to serve as running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“No, by God’s grace your prayer will not be answered. Perhaps, you have forgotten the gravity of the offence you have committed against the people of Southern Nigeria.”
