Aformer Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State, Mr.Tokunbo Abiru has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Lagos East Senatorial District bye-election slated for 31st of next month.
Mr. Abiru polled 111,551 votes in the APC Primary election conducted across five Local Government Areas of the district.
Announcing the results of the primary at Somolu Local Government Secretariat, the Chairman of APC Primary for Lagos East Senatorial District Bye-Election Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari said that despite the fact that Mr. Abiru was the only aspirant for the primary, APC members across five Local Government areas affirmed him as the candidate to represent the party in the Bye Election.
The Lagos East Senatorial seat became vacant following the death of Senator Bayo Oshinowo.
Reacting to the outcome of the Primary, the Chairman of the APC in Lagos State, Alhaji Tunde Balogun commended the delegates for conducting themselves in orderly manner, saying Lagos APC was a role model for other States when it comes to the conduct of primary elections.
Alhaji Balogun urged residents of Lagos East Senatorial District to support the party with their votes on October 31 so that Mr. Abiru would continue from where the late Senator Bayo Oshinowo stopped.
The APC candidate will slug it out with candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party and Action Democratic Party and other political parties in the bye-election.
