Fire on Saturday razed at least 6 buildings and 30 shops at popular Ladipo Street in Mushin, Lagos.
The inferno, which started around 3pm inside a mattress shop at 16, Ladipo Street, was said to have rapidly spread to other structures as a result of the closeness of the buildings to the shop.
In an brief release later on Saturday, LASEMA Director-General, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu listed the affected property as a single storey building with six rooms and four shops; five bungalows with 26 shops; and 6 bungalow with a three-bedroom flat.
The Agency also discovered that a mattress shop was the initial source of the fire and that a joint team of responders worked together to curtail the inferno from escalating to adjoining buildings.
