The Social Democratic Party, SDP, senatorial candidate in the last general election, Barnabas Gemade has withdrawn its membership from the SDP to join the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Senator Gemade who announced his defection in a ceremony over the weekend at Mbawar area of Benue State.
At the ceremony, Senator Gemade said he returned to APC after due consultations with the leadership of the party at the National, State, Local and wtard levels.
Recall, Gemade defected from the APC to the SDP shortly before the 2019 general election to seek re-election into the senate in the Benue North East district but lost to the incumbent Senator Gabriel Suswam in 2019.
Gemade who was welcomed backed to the party by the State chairman of APC, Comrade Abba Yaro said senator Gemade has returned to the family he belongs to.
Comrade Yaro described Senator Gemade as an asset to the party and cautioned members of the party against any form of discrimination against returnees to the party.
