Federal Government has announced August 4, 2020 as the new resumption of academic activities to students and pupils in exit classes in preparation for their examination.
The new date was announced at the end of a virtual consultative meeting held between the Federal Ministry of Education, Commissioners of Education, Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), proprietors of Schools and top management of examination bodies.
2020 West African Examination Council (WAEC) is also to commence on August 17, as against the proposed shift by Federal Government till September 5, 2020.
The Government however implore student to properly utilize the opportunity of two weeks resumption before the commencement of the examination to prepare for WAEC.
This was according to a statement by the Director, Public Relations Unit, Federal Ministry of Education, Ben Going, who said stakeholders at the meeting agreed on immediate resumption for exit classes after Eid-el-labor.
“The meeting also resolved a passionate appeal made to the Federal Government through the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and public spirited Nigerians for assistance to schools across the Country to enable them fast track the preparations and safe reopening of schools as agreed.
