In other to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Lagos state, the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Alh. Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello has commences the distribution of over 16,000 face mask to market women and men, artisans, and other residents in the area.
The Chairman explained that the significance of the distribution was to compliment the effort of the Lagos state Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu in ensuring a supportive and preventive care for all Lagosians.
Alh. Oloyede Bello stated this in a statement through the Head, Public Affairs Unit of the Council Mr. ‘Kunle Oladele noting that the Council since the first case of COVID-19 was recorded in Nigeria has been sensitizing the residents on the need to stay safe.
Obe explained that though COVID-19 presents with symptoms similar to malaria, but they are very different as COVID-19 is caused by a virus while malaria by Plasmodium. He warned that individuals are putting their lives at risk by attending concerts and other large gatherings. “Your life is in your hands”.
The Council boss added that the Local Government been the closest level of Government to the masses have embarked on distribution of palliatives to residents, disinfecting several streets, including bus stops and places of worship in order to keep the environment safe for all.
“We would keep fighting this battle, we would not rest until we win. If we are not concerned about the good health of our people, then it means we have failed as a Government. We pray that God Almighty guides us right, so that we as a Nation, can find permanent solution to this deadly pandemic as soon as possible”
