Former Governor of Oyo State and Acting Chairman of All Progressive Congress(APC) Senator Abiola Ajimobi has called on all stakeholders in the party to maintain peace and orderliness as he assume office for the betterment of the party.
Sen. Ajimobi stated this on Tuesday 16 June, 2020 in a statement through his Special Adviser, Communication and Strategy Mr. Bolaji Tunji after the court ruling affirming the suspension of the party’s National Chairman Comrade Adams Oshiomole.
Sen. Ajumobi who took over the leadership of the party according to the constitution of the party Section 14 subsection 3 “the Deputy National Chairman shall act as the National Chairman in the absence of the National Chairman from his zone”.
It will be recalled that the Acting Chairman took over as the Deputy National Chairman of the party in March 2020 following the appointment of Otunba Niyi Adebayo as a minister by President Muhammadu Buhari.
His appointment into the National Working Committee (NWC) was however affirmed by a Federal High Court.
At the moment, three claimants to the position of the Acting National Chairman of the APC are H.E., Abiola Ajimobi, Victor Giadom and Lawal Shaibu. According to the Court Order, Chief Victor Tombari Giadom seems to be favored and likely the Acting National Chairman of the party but the APC National Working Committee has disowns Gaidom, affirming H.E., Abiola Ajimobi as the Acting National Chairman.
Main while, the embattled Governor in the eyes of the storm, H.E., Godwin Obaseki of Edo State seems to have made a u-turn to deny his resignation from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which recently disqualified him from the upcoming Governorship primary election in Edo State.
He made the denial Wednesday morning on his official twitter handle saying “I have not moved to a new party platform yet to seek re-election. My focus now is to control the spread of corona virus (COVID 19) pandemic, which is ravaging our Country and threatening our health care system”
