After Brighton’s 3-0 loss against Arsenal on Saturday, their manager Roberto de Zerbi stated that the team’s injuries prevented them from competing.
Bukayo Saka scored the opening goal for the Gunners from the penalty spot in the first half, and Arsenal secured all three points at the Amex thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard in the second half.

“We played a good first half and played well in the second half until the second goal,” De Zerbi stated in an interview with BBC MOTD. After that, we performed poorly and were worthy of a defeat against one of the top Premier League teams. We just cannot compete against Arsenal with our wounded players.
“We are sorry and disappointed for our fans. We wanted to get points, to win the game and compete in better ways. We are having a tough moment because we are playing without a lot of injured players. It is tough.”
