On Tuesday, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) presented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with a list of 17 demands. The NLC President, Joe Ajaero, had earlier called off the nationwide protest due to hardship.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) therefore examined how the first day of the nationwide protest was carried out in order to evaluate its efficacy and decide on additional measures that will be required to support Congress in its endeavour to engage the government in order to shield the populace and Nigerian workers from the growing scourge of hardship.
In light of this, NLC applauded Nigerians, including NLC affiliates, state councils, labour unions, and civil society allies nationwide for turning out in large numbers to peacefully express their fury over the suffering imposed by the government and its two altars, the World Bank and the IMF.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) also expresses its sincere gratitude to the people of Nigeria for delivering a clear message to the ruling class about their shared desire to hold those in positions of authority in our country accountable. It was thought that the message had struck a deep chord.
