In an effort to preserve his life, Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, had five surgeries before having one of his legs amputated. His family has also urged Nigerians to show support for the actor.
It was disclosed by his daughter on Monday through a statement posted on his verified Instagram profile. The actor’s successful seven-hour surgery, which included a limb amputation, was made public. Amputation of one limb was necessary to maintain his survival.

“Daddy had seven successful surgeries as of 1 p.m. today, but one of his legs had to be amputated in order to keep him alive and improve his prospects of recovery. It has been difficult for all of us to accept this development as Daddy’s new reality in order to keep him alive.
A portion of the statement said, “Please, we are still requesting support from well-meaning Nigerians.”
