At the 2023 Black Entertainment Awards (BET), Damini Ogulu, a Nigerian artist and Grammy Award winner better known by his stage name Burnaboy, took home the trophy for Best International Act.

Burna Boy, whose 2022 album “Love, Damini” was a global hit, won the prize ahead of artists including Ayra Starr, Central Cee, and Stormzy. Although he was unable to attend the ceremony, Burna Boy was warmly congratulated for receiving the most coveted BET award.

Other contenders in the field included Aya Nakamura, Ayra Starr, Central Cee, Ella Mai, K.O, L7nnon, Stormzy, Tiakola, and Uncle Waffle.
