The National Economic Council (NEC), headed by Vice President Kashim Shettima, has been instructed by President Bola Tinubu to devise a strategy and start developing interventions to lessen the impact of subsidy removal on Nigerians.
Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, said this after leading some significant oil marketers on a courtesy visit to the president at the State House. He said that the marketers showed their support for the President in his decision to remove the 4 trillion naira subsidy burden, which could increase the FAAC allocation to states.

In order to lessen the impact of the subsidy removal within the next 30 days, the group of marketers who met with the president on Wednesday announced their intention to donate between fifty and one hundred “50-seater” mass transit buses. These buses are expected to cost about one hundred million naira each and ten billion naira in total.
The marketers emphasised their desire for other corporate entities to follow their lead.
