Idris Wase, the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, announced his candidature for the lower house’s speakership while outlining his qualifications to do so if elected.
The Deputy Speaker, who contested on the platform of the All Progressive Congress, was declared winner by the coalition officer of the constituency, Sati Umaru Fwatshak, a professor. This is the fifth term of the lawmaker in the House of Represenetatives.
At a gathering in Abuja on Friday, Hon. Wase formally announced his candidature for the post. He remarked with confidence: “Respected colleagues, I respect every one of you present and, by the grace of God, if you give me your mandate, we shall make you proud. He promised the crowd, “We will build a strong legislature that will last among nations of nations.
A number of times, the legislator for the Wase Federal Constituency claimed he had “sacrificed” himself for the National Assembly and his country by giving up his desire to be its leader.

The legislator asked Nigerians to come together and cooperate for the benefit of the nation at the ceremony, which was attended by his followers and some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party in power.
His announcement comes shortly after the APC allocated the National Assembly leadership positions, electing Godswill Akpabio to lead the Senate and Tajudeen Abbas to lead the House of Representatives, respectively.
While the development has not been favourably received by all APC members and MPs, Mr. Wase is expressing their concerns.
