In response to a petition signed by one Osimusi Emmanuel, controversial hip-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, has released a new song relating his short experience at the Ilaro Prison in Ogun State.
He was given bail by a magistrate’s court in Ogun’s Ifo Local Government Area, but was kept in custody until the bail terms were fulfilled.
When he appeared before the judge on Monday, Portable entered a not guilty plea to each of the five counts that were brought against him and bordered on theft and violence.
Adodo Destiny, Portable’s attorney, had asked the judge to release the performer on bond.

Magistrate A.S. Soneye gave his judgement on the application for bail submitted by his attorney, declaring that the offences are bailable and granting him bail with a release fee of N300,000 and two sureties who must live within the court’s jurisdiction.
However, the judge decided that the defendant should go to the Ilaro Correctional Facility while his parole conditions are being satisfied.
The trial was set to begin on April 26 after the case was postponed.
After being freed, Portable used his Instagram page on Wednesday to share a sneak peek of a brand-new tune that discusses his run-in with the police.
The performer claimed in the video, titled “Federal Government Liabiality,” that he was not a prisoner and expressed his admiration for the strength of the legal system, which he said was second only to God.
“Them carry me go prison I no collect cloth. I am not a prisoner. Talk behind my back and see me call the police. After God na government,” he said in the single mixed with Yoruba and pidgin.
