The Endsars protest that took place at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos killed lives, according to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos State.
In an interview with Arise TV on Wednesday, Sanwo-Olu stated that he preferred to wait for the results of the shooting’s forensic investigation before making any statements, but he also claimed to have learned his lesson.

While many people questioned who gave the order for the army to shoot at unarmed youngsters during the rally, youths had a major animosity towards the governor for his remarks and conduct during the protest. Several others questioned who shut off the light at the toll gate.
Many young people have vowed not to support him in the election on Saturday as a result of this anger and unanswered questions, but the governor responded that he preferred to get verified information on what actually occurred on October 20, 2022, when the Nigerian army opened fire on unarmed civilians.
Sanwo-Olu said that everyone should stop asking “who gave the command” and instead take part in role-playing exercises or imagine themselves in his shoes. He claimed that he was the first governor to visit the angry youths.
He continued by saying that, unlike what occurred before the presidential election, ordering the troops to the Lekki tollgate was not within his power or jurisdiction.
