Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai said on Friday that Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), introduced the naira redesign strategy to aid the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in winning the general elections of 2023.
Emefiele was first named governor of the central bank by the PDP. So, let’s not forget where he came from,” El-Rufai stated during a press conference shortly after the Supreme Court mandated that the old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes continue to be in use until December 31, 2023.

The Federal Government’s strategy of redesigning the naira was also overturned by the Supreme Court, which ruled that it violated the Constitution of 1999. According to the court, the strategy has caused some individuals to engage in barter trading in the contemporary day in an effort to live.
16 states, led by Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara, asked the supreme court to nullify and set aside the policy on the grounds that it is putting innocent Nigerians through hardship.
El-Rufai, who witnessed the verdict alongside All Progressives Congress (APC) governors including Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, told the media after the ruling that the CBN governor deceived President Muhammadu Buhari into implementing the policy.
