The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been urged by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, to demonstrate why voters may have faith in the institution by holding fair elections.
Speaking to reporters at his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State on Friday about his desire for successful elections in the country, Oba Ogunwusi, the co-chairman of the National Traditional Council of Nigeria, urged citizens, especially youths, to be civil, law-abiding, and to avoid all forms of violence that might undercut the credibility of the exercise.

The king advised citizens to prioritise their love of the nation as they exercise their civic rights during the elections. The queen expressed empathy with Nigerians on the difficulties brought on by the naira note redesign policy and the gasoline shortage.
In the same way that he exhorted security forces to be patriotic and avoid taking sides or intimidating voters throughout the election process, he pleaded with politicians to stop from intimidating voters.
The Ooni further advised other traditional leaders around the nation to preserve their neutrality, remain apolitical, and permit their constituents to cast their votes for any party or candidate of their choosing.
