The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, met with President Muhammadu Buhari only hours after the Supreme Court blocked the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, from enforcing the February 10 limit for the validity of old naira notes.
Recalls that on Wednesday, a seven-member Supreme Court bench led by Justice John Okoro issued a unanimous judgement ordering that the old naira notes stay in circulation even after the new deadline.

The Kogi, Kaduna, and Zamfara state governments filed an ex parte petition on Tuesday.
The Supreme Court also ruled that the Federal Government and the CBN may not extend the deadline until the outcome of the hearing on February 15, 2023.
