On Tuesday, Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje said that some anti-democratic forces were orchestrating a rerun of the invalidated presidential election from June 12, 1992. He said that they had used legal means to enforce what he called an impractical cash policy that is having a negative impact on the nation’s populace.
The governor claimed that under the cover of the current crisis brought on by the monetary policy, the fifth columnists are dangerously disguising themselves.
Ganduje’s response came after a Federal High Court in Abuja imposed an interim order prohibiting the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, from extending the 10-day deadline for the currency swap.
The Kano governor accused some of the critics of working along with the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, to carry out their plot in a statement released by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba.

He continued by saying that the main opposition party’s and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, open support for CBN policy added credence to the opposition’s and the central bank’s grand complicity in the deliberate undermining of the country’s hard-won democracy through the imposition of harsh policies designed to weaken the populace.
He argues that it is extremely regrettable that the CBN and its allies are insisting unnecessarily on the imposition of an unrealistic deadline for the termination of the legal tender status of the old naira notes, completely disregarding the obvious national lack of the required technological infrastructure for the procedure.
Ganduje said that the National Assembly and the majority of state governors, as well as the great majority of Nigerians, have rejected these draconian, inhumane, and insensitive monetary policies to the point where their execution was being insisted upon despite this.
He asserted that it is a sinister plan to undermine the nation, particularly the preparations for a seamless changeover to a legitimately elected next administration.
