Ejigbo Local Council Development Area honoured her 2022 retirees in a remarkable and stylish manner as part of efforts to improve Staff Welfarism and honour those who deserve it.
On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the ceremony was held at the Permanent Council Secretariat (which is now under restoration). It is not a one-time occurrence; it has been an annual custom since the beginning of the Executive Chairman’s first tenure, Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello (OBE).
Speaking at the event, Mr. Abiola Qudus Ayorinde, Director Post Service Department, Local Government Establishment Training and Pension, advised the retirees to take care of their health, manage their savings wisely, and give back to the community by actively participating in Community Development Association (CDA).
Mr. Abiola spoke on behalf of the Permanent Secretary for Local Government, Training, and Pension.

Mr. Coker Ayodele Daniel, the representative of the Director, Recruitment, Discipline, and Exit (R, D & E), Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), conveyed greetings from the Commission Chairman to the personnel. He also recommended employees to follow proper procedures when retiring, resigning, or withdrawing from service in order to be able to receive essential entitlements.
The Council Chairman, Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello, on his part, recommended the retiring workers to do something productive between now and when they begin earning their pension to mitigate the impact. He also recommended those still serving to diversify their money and resources so that when they retire, they will have something to fall back on.
Mrs. Iyabode Ogunyemi, Council Manager, thanked the retiring personnel for their hard work and dedication to the Lagos State Government. She also urged those still serving to be time-conscious, dutiful, and good in the eyes of God and man.
Speaking on ‘Life After Retirement,’ the facilitator, Mr. Fadare Jamiu Babatunde, advised the retiring workers to watch what they eat, live within their means, avoid needless impressing people, and exercise frequently. Mr. Fadare was a Pension Desk Officer before becoming an Area Officer at Agege LGA (PDO)
Comrade Sadiq Lawal, Chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ejigbo Branch, thanked the Council Chairman for approving the cash gift for retiring staff, for gifting the staff a bus to ease NULGE activities, and for the ongoing reconstruction of the Permanent Council Secretariat.
The Executive Chairman and the C.M delivered monetary gifts and plaques to each retiring employee at the occasion.
Mr. Abiola Qudus Ayorinde, Director of Post Service Department, Local Government Establishment, Training & Pension, also delivered retirement certificates to the retiring personnel.
Mr. Oluwo Semiu Adeleke (Deputy Director of Administration and Human Resources/immediate past HRO), Mr. Lawal Nureni Babatunde (Principal Education Officer), Mrs. Samuel Elizabeth Omolara (Chief Clerical Officer), Mr. Shontan Nureni Senior Foreman, and Mr. Suberu Lasisi are the five retirees (Senior Driver).
