According to Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Nigeria’s current circumstances are the result of more than two decades of poor leadership decisions.
When speaking at the London-based Chatham House on the subject of “Nigeria’s 2023 elections: Service delivery and policy choices,” the former minister of defence expressed his position.
The issues the nation is currently facing, according to him, include insecurity, rising poverty, escalating and unchecked inflation, rising unemployment and pessimism, deteriorating infrastructure, as well as a high rate of maternal and neonatal mortality.
A disintegrating education system, a health care problem, weak institutions, rising corruption and graft, astonishing theft of our crude oil and other mineral resources, and a rise in mistrust between our country’s constituent communities are among the other issues addressed.

“We can point fingers at all sorts of factors allegedly responsible for our situation, from coronavirus to global economic recession, from Western powers to international capital, etc..”
“But for me, we are where we are because of the mistakes and the wrong choices made by the very people entrusted with the business of governing Nigeria in the last 24 years.”
Because “I understand the difficulties involved, the mistakes that were made, the erroneous priorities that were set, and together with our team, we are better linked with the goals and aspirations of the Nigerian citizens,” Kwankwaso stated he aspires to be the next president of Nigeria.
We comprehend, concur with, and share grievances, he continued. And we have a workable plan to deal with every problem plaguing our nation.
