The Central Bank of Nigeria claims it is unable to estimate how many fresh notes were created and distributed.
Aisha Ahmad, the deputy governor of the apex bank in charge of financial stability, made the comment in response to questioning from Legislators regarding the apex bank’s cashless policy and cash withdrawal caps on Thursday when she spoke before the House of Representatives.

The lawmakers had decided on Wednesday that a CBN deputy governor would appear to brief the House today (Thursday), in place of CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, who is away from the nation taking care of health-related matters.
In the course of questioning the CBN deputy governor, a senator named Sada Soli expressed worries about the new notes’ unavailability days after they were made available to the public and demanded that she reveal the number of new notes created.
However, in response to the enquiry, the CBN deputy governor stated that she was unaware of the number of notes that the central bank had issued.
