As a result, the judge issued an injunction directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to include Abacha’s name on the ballot for the Kano governorship race in 2023.
Abacha had gone before the court, asking that it declare him the victor of the legitimate PDP primary that had taken place in Kano and been approved by INEC. According to the Electoral Act 2022, he claimed, he received the most votes overall in the PDP primary conducted on May 25.
All requested relief was granted by the court. If there would be an appeal was unknown at the time of this story.
